Source: International Electronic Business Information Recently, China Information and Communication Technology Group announced that my country's first commercial "100G silicon optical transceiver chip" was officially developed and put into production. The chip supports 100-200Gb/s high-speed optical signal transmission. It is not only ultra-small, but also has higher performance and lower cost. It can be generalized and is widely used in transmission networks and data center optical transmission equipment.
It is reported that the silicon optical chip is jointly developed by the National Information Optoelectronics Innovation Center, Accelink Technology, the State Key Laboratory of Optical Fiber Communication Technology and Network, and China Information and Communication Technology Group.
On a silicon chip of less than 30 square millimeters, it integrates nearly 60 active and passive optical components including optical transmission, modulation, and reception. It is currently one of the most integrated commercial silicon photonic integrated chips in the world. After the chip is packaged, the size of its silicon optical device product is only 312 square millimeters, which is one-third of the area of ??traditional devices.
The mass production of 100G/200G fully integrated silicon-based coherent optical transceiver integrated chips and devices has passed the user's live network test, and the performance is stable and reliable.
Academician Yu Shaohua, director of the Expert Committee of the National Information Optoelectronics Innovation Center, said that silicon materials have abundant sources, low cost, excellent mechanical properties and high temperature resistance, and are convenient for chip processing and packaging. The production and manufacture of silicon optical chips with the help of the large-scale commercial CMOS process platform of integrated circuits can effectively solve the problems of weak manufacturing capacity and insufficient process capacity of high-end optoelectronic chips in my country.
On July 20, Wuhan Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (Fiberhome Department) and Telecommunication Research Institute (Datang Department) jointly reorganized and established China Information Technology Group. It plans to invest 60 billion yuan in the next five years to develop 5G mobile communications, integrated circuits, and networks 9 industry directions including information security, optical communications, optical fiber and optical devices, special communications, data communications, cloud computing, Internet of Things and smart city solutions.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology led the establishment of the National Information Optoelectronics Innovation Center and promoted the cooperation of four units to realize the industrial commercialization of 100G silicon optical chips, indicating that my country has the conditions and foundation for the commercial design of silicon optical products.
In the next few years, silicon optical technology is expected to be deployed and applied on a large scale in optical communication systems, promoting my country's independent silicon optical chip technology to ultra-high-speed, ultra-large capacity, ultra-long distance, high integration, high performance, low power consumption, and high reliability. The direction of development.
