IC Insights: The biggest growth momentum of the semiconducto

The personal computer (PC) market has been the single largest driver of semiconductor sales for many years, but it has recently declined for the sixth consecutive year. At the same time, the semiconductor industry in 2017 is expected to usher in the best year of sales performance. Among them, the strongest growth momentum comes from the automotive market, and this growth momentum will continue until 2021.

 

PC is no longer the killer application of semiconductors. Instead, many new application areas continue to emerge. These include the automotive semiconductor market-a strong market that has been in the semiconductor industry for many years-as the number of semiconductor products in each vehicle increases, automotive semiconductors have quickly become the most important market in the semiconductor industry.

 

In fact, market research company IC Insights predicts that at least in 2021, the automotive semiconductor market will be the strongest chip terminal application market. According to the company's forecast, between 2016 and 2021, sales of automotive electronic systems will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.4%.

 

IC Insights pointed out that this growth trend comes from the market’s increasing demand for automotive electronic systems, while also paying more and more attention to driverless (autonomous driving) vehicles, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) ) Communication, as well as on-board safety, convenience and environmental protection features, not to mention the interest in electric vehicles (EV).
